Production Engineer

Position Summary

  • To review and improve the production engineering methods, process equipment and machinery required to manufacture CRP products.
  • Assist in the design, specification and introduction of new plant and equipment for use in the production departments to satisfy the future needs of the business

Responsible For:

  • Supporting the Production Engineering Manager by providing technical expertise, developing, improving and maintaining systems, processes, procedures and process controls.
  • Driving continuous improvement in process areas

Main Duties:

  • Research, justify and implement capital expenditures to improve utilization of working capital
  • Evaluate rework and reject levels for design, process and training improvement opportunities
  • Institute process and product improvement – result will be a positive impact on production cycle time, production costs and product quality
  • Analyse and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow and design layout of equipment and workspace for optimum efficiency and safety
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential
  • Develop and evaluate equipment and process to produce a high-quality product at a competitive cost
  • Participate in qualification/development of suppliers for components, sub-assemblies and processes
  • Facilitate development of corrective actions to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Establish and document manufacturing processes
  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility review; generate assembly instructions and tooling
  • Provide technical direction, training and certification for operators performing detail process steps to ensure that the team have necessary skills, appropriate documentation, tooling and process control capability
  • Resolve technical problems which effect quality, manufacturability, delivery and costs
  • Manage the specification, sourcing and installation of new equipment through to manufacturing
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures with particular reference to health, safety and quality
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties that may be requested from time to time

Qualifications required:

  • Degree level in an engineering discipline (B.Eng / BSC)
  • Time served with a minimum HNC HND in Engineering

Proven and successful experience of:

  • Proven track record within a fast pace, demanding manufacturing environment
  • Involvement in change initiatives and projects with a view to continual improvement
  • Proficient in the use of CAD (AutoCAD minimum)

Physical demands:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or listen and use hands to operate electronic equipment. The employee is regularly required to view a computer screen for long periods of time and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop or kneel. Work may also occasionally involve lifting of materials and product up to 20kg. Ability to tolerate weather extremes such as hot/cold environments and humidity when visiting manufacturing facilities.

Working Environment:

  • Frequently required to use Personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, steel toe shoes) in designated areas
  • Factory-based
  • Frequent travel to multiple local sites and may be involved in global travel
