History

We are proud of our long history and class leading track record in our industry. From the birth of CRP Marine in the 1970’s to our latest incarnation as CRP Subsea, take a walk through some of the highlights of our history.

Class leading performance for almost half a century

Lifebuoy

1978

CRP Marine was formed by Charles Ratcliffe Tyrer to supply innovative polymer Lifebuoys to R Perry & Co. (founded in 1804, one year before the battle of Trafalgar). The initials of the two owners gave birth to the CRP name we again use today

Skelmersdale

1990

Relocation from Greenhey Place to the larger purpose-built Stanley Way facility in Skelmersdale, as CRP diversified into the Oil & Gas sector and added design engineering and project management capabilities

Bend Stiffener Installation

1996

CRP supplied first dynamic bending stiffeners, since then over 1,500 have been installed with zero in service failures

Houston 1

2003

Acquisition of drill-riser buoyancy business in Houston, Texas topped 5 years of acquisition including ECCM in Boston and OCP in the UK

Paxton 2

2006

Operations in Skelmersdale expanded with the addition of a second facility at Paxton Place

Trelleborg logo

2007

Acquisition of the CRP Group by Trelleborg to form Trelleborg Offshore

Brazil

2012

Opening of Trelleborg Offshore Brazil facility in Macae complementing the Skelmersdale business while providing local content

2013

Delivered floatation and first retro-fit dynamic bending stiffeners to Mediterranean subsea water pipeline installed 820ft below the surface

Rochdale

2014

Acquisition of Polyurethane Products Ltd in Retford and Ambler Technologies in Rochdale strengthen the Offshore Group

Rotating Buoyancy

2017

Development and supply of the world’s first “rotating” buckle mitigation buoyancy

2018

First supply of buoyancy modules with integrated smart sensor technology

Management buyout re-establishing the CRP brand and continuing our focus on delivering subsea solutions to protect customers assets
